Known officially as the Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport, the International airport at Puerto Vallarta is modern and has excellent connections to the United States and Canada.

All flights are dealt with quickly and efficiently and, even better, you don’t have to carry your bags far to get where you need to go!

The Layout at the International Airport at Puerto Vallarta

Set on two levels, the international airport at Puerto Vallarta keeps things simple; the lower levels hosts check-in desks on one side and arrivals on the other. On this level you will also find shops, cafe’s and currency exchange services. Domestic and international arrivals are nicely separated and, as such, provide good meeting spots; no need to worry about getting lost here.

On the upper level you’ll find restaurants, a few stores and the security area; the best part is that security is only 10 minutes from the departure gates so you don’t have to be a gym bunny to catch your flight! Once you pass security, you’ll be able to browse Duty free before passing through to Hall A for national flights or Hall B for International departures.

Documentations and Immigration at the international airport at Puerto Vallarta

During your incoming flight to Puerto Vallarta International airport you should be given an immigration form to fill in. On this you should record your length of stay and where you will stay; the immigration officer will take this from you when you arrive, stamp your passport and give you a small exit slip. It is really important that you do not lose this slip; keep it with your passport and plane tickets as you’ll need it to exit Mexico. If you don’t have it you may incur a fine.

If red, then your suitcase will be searched. Don’t panic though; these searches are random. Just don’t forget to declare anything you may need to! Customs can be very particular about alcohol and cigarettes.
