The much loved beach at Garza Blanca Preserve celebrated another certification issued by the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification (IMNC) in a ceremony held at the five star resort on Wednesday October 9, 2013. IMNC classifies all the beaches in Mexico in tourist areas and deemed Garza Blanca Beach to be one of only 4 beaches to match the criteria laid out in the standard NMX-AA-120-SCFI-2006.
The official standard for beach quality takes into account garbage on the sand, water quality, waste water disposal as well as sea water testing. Beaches that qualify for the standard should not have any evidence of cut glass, plastic, polystyrene, cigarette butts and the like. The levels of bacteria in the seawater will also have to be of a certain quality to be certified. In addition, all the vegetation that is planted on or near the beach must be native to the area.
The official presentation of the certification was witnessed by the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Ramón Guerrero Martínez and other important officials from the local council. Garza Blanca’s Signature Residences Sales and Marketing Director, Mr. Javier Garcia received the certification on behalf of the resort. IMNC also issued a second certificate to commend staff at Garza Blanca for their active part in ensuring the quality of the beach. Staff training was given to the brigade in charge of maintaining the beach by a guest biologist. The second certificate was received by Garza Blanca’s Maintenance Manager, Ing. Javier Contreras.
