Puerto Vallarta’s weather is very pleasant and predictable, including the rain. The rainy season is from June through October when precipitation is heavy yet easily forecastable. August and September are the heaviest months but by that time, the rain has usually formed a regular pattern; that is, a couple of hours in the afternoon or through the night.
During the rainy season, temperatures are high, around 91ºF (33ºC) and the climate becomes humid and balmy. As the daytime is usually very hot and sunny, this is perfect weather for sunbathing and swimming in the sea. By around 5 or 6pm you can start to see the rain clouds forming and have about an hour to get somewhere before a downpour. Sometimes it does not rain at all during the day by rains through the night. It is also worth mentioning that the temperature of the rain is generally very warm.
Many people claim that the best weather is in the cooler months from November to May when rain is very rare. Temperatures average around 82ºF (28ºC) during the day and fall to around 61ºF (16ºC) at night. Locals claim that rain showers during January and February are common, but will not be the great downpours experienced during the summer months.
In reality, whenever you decide to visit, rain will not hinder your enjoyment of Puerto Vallarta.
